The 787 Dreamliner is the much publicized Boeing long-range, mid-size wide body, twin-engine jet airliner. Although the 787 design is composed of a high percentage of advanced composite materials, there are still traditional metal structures that make up the aircraft. Three variants are planned: -8, -9, -10. The variants seat 242 to 335 passengers in typical 3-class seating configurations. The 787 was designed to be 20% more fuel efficient than the 767 it is replacing. This fuel efficiency fuel and range flexibility enables carriers to profitably open new routes as well as optimize fleet and network performance.
Accurus began producing parts for the aircraft through a contract with GKN Aerospace in 2013. These parts include the machining of 12 structural wing ribs and two Titanium wing attachments. We have delivered over 800 parts to date. The program has highlighted our hard metal machining capabilities.
